Holly's Honeybees
Holly was a stay at home mom with a young baby. Her husband had a full time job that afforded her the opportunity to start raising their first child. The young boy was still a baby and he spent a lot of his time sleeping. Her husband, Ben, worked as an anesthesiologist in the local hospital and he was on call a lot of the time, but they lived a nice life considering the many impoverished people who lived in the surrounding communities. With the baby boy sleeping a lot, and her husband gone most of the day, Holy decided that she needed a hobby to keep her busy.
Her first hobby was a garden that she started planting that spring. She found that the earth had some beautiful natural soil and she had beautiful flowers throughout the summer. She also had an amazing harvest of vegetables throughout the summer and into the fall. The hobby kept her busy and she could keep the baby outside close to her in his basinet. The weather that summer and the harvest that fall were both great but she needed something to keep her busy through the winter months.
She knew about the internet from their days in the city, but when they had moved out into the country broadband internet was basically unheard of. They had resorted to dial-up strictly for keeping in touch by email, but other than that she didn't surf the internet. In the cold winter months it would be a nice thing to have to give her something to do. Her husband discovered Satellite Internet which offered broadband internet to remote areas where it was otherwise unavailable. They subscribed and soon they were connected at lightning fast speeds.
That winter she was able to spend a lot of time surfing the internet and she started to learn many new things about gardening and tools for enriching the soil. She also used it to start ordering seeds early in the year to prepare for planting in the spring. In her free time she started researching a new hobby that would keep her busy in addition to the gardening and that was the dying art of beekeeping. It was something that she did not know much about, but over the course of that winter she learned a lot and ordered the supplies for the spring.
That spring she had her new beehives and equipment and she started taking care of bees which was more work than she had expected. At first it was quite tedious and difficult, but she learned a lot over the first couple of weeks, as long as taking a few stings. The many blueberry barrens, the fields where blueberries grew in the late summer, were an excellent place for the bees to collect pollen, and soon she as overwhelmed with work.
Using her internet she learned how to harvest the honey and preserve it as well. She also learned how to preserve some of her garden vegetables and keep them throughout the winter. She still had a lot to learn about beekeeping, but the next winter would afford her ample time for that, and hopefully next year she would avoid the stings.

Baby Supermall carries some really nice Holly Hobbie baby bedding. Many items are currently on back order, but they do have a cute Holly Hobbie lampshade in stock. Also, eBay sells lots of Holly Hobbie items, including dolls, clothes and nursery items. Some of them are sold used, but there are a few items that are brand new. There are also a bunch of specialty stores online that sell Holly Hobbie items - a quick Google search will show you what's available.
